Lynn B. Friedman - Atlanta Homes ODAT Realty: Atlanta Summer Blooms - Active Rain Challenge And A Local Challenge

Atlanta Summer Blooms - Active Rain Challenge And A Local Challenge

Atlanta Summer Blooms -
Active Rain Challenge And A Local Challenge

Atlanta Summer Blooms is an interesting concept. Yes, we have flowers but the Spring is so much better for blooms here. TOO HOT in the Summer!!!!

Full summer we may have planted pots that thrive ---

Sometimes I don't even know the names of the plants -- they combine based on their color and texture display.

The yellow one on the left stands out next to the green.

I plant and then hope they grow ...

The yellow flowers above on the right side are begonias which bloom in many colors but I really like the white ones here on the left.

Of course, mixed again with other types of plants!

Coleus leaves - upper left in this photo - add summer color in an astonishing array of options.

Now for the TRUE Atlanta summer flowers ---

First, the ground cover liriope splashes little bursts of color throughout the yard with its lavender blooms.

Sometimes white but mostly lavender blooms show up next to many different colors of leaves.

Second, TRUE Atlanta summer flowers are ones that grow on trees!

Meet the famous crepe myrtle  as it brings white, watermelon, pink and lavender flowers that last week after week in the heat.

Over 50 species ...

Thanks Belinda Spillman for the adventure of photographing during the month to get the fun photos!

Pretty flowers, Lynn. The yellow daisy-like flower in the top photos has leaves like a primrose, and the other yellow flower certainly looks like begonia, though I've never seen a yellow one before. Lovely shots.
