Ask An Ambassador:
AR Contests  AR Challenges - What's the difference?

Sometimes called ActiveRain CONTESTS and sometimes called ActiveRain CHALLENGES, what is the difference?   Kathy Streib  commented in her post about the Contest/Challenge difference - an interesting read!

Whether called a Contest or called a Challenge, these events give each participant the opportunity to engage with the Client Base of the general public and with the ActiveRain community.

IMHO - the difference is who does the analysis of the result.

In an ActiveRain Contest, entries are judged against other entries for Bonus Points or other rewards. The Contest Moderator may be the judge or other members may be asked to do the judging. All of the "rules" are explained in the AR Contest announcement.

ActiveRain Challenges, however, face a much more demanding judging process. The member entering the Challenge is the sole judge - YOU have to satisfy YOURSELF!!!

ActiveRain defines itself as an "online community of real estate professionals who write Blogs, exchange best practices and share information."  ActiveRain offers each Real Estate related professional member - whether a RAINMAKER or a 'RAINER - the opportunity to "Connect - Share - Learn".

Whether a Contest or a Challenge, take the plunge and participate.

Interaction between yourself and other members is one of the best results delivered by participation.  When you participate in a Contest or in a Challenge, others gain the opportunity to comment on your post. Those comments may lead to the beginnings of a friendship with someone far away. Those friendships may provide business benefits as well.

Via ActiveRain, I have had the privilege of participating in transactions in three other states so far - Florida with Toni Weidman ; Hawaii with Bruce Hicks and New York with Larry and Sheila Agranoff.  Also interacted with Jeff Dowler in California and Joe Petrowsky in Connecticut.

Of course, learning new skills is another benefit of participation. For example, Debbie Laity's annual offer required two photos or a video of a certain length. For a person who did not know how to use photos or never had done a video, those requirements lead to learning.

JANUARY 2017 is around the corner - three different options await members.
See the opportunities in January 2017 at the  ActiveRain CONTESTS GROUP  link .
One is the 2017 6th Annual Blog Jumpstart Challenge.
Definitely a Challenge
- yes, an effort by you and judged by you.

Composed of learning exercises, the 2017 BLOG JUMPSTART Challenge offers the chance to learn new skills. Remember that aspect of Blogging you always mean to learn and never "have the time" to learn? Now you can earn points for trying those new methods you always wanted to know.

One key element of the 2017 6th Annual Blog Jumpstart Challenge is the chance to explore what makes ActiveRain a vibrant and respectful community. All members are requested to learn about the  CULTURE of ACTIVERAIN when they first join. Even established Bloggers on ActiveRain send feedback that they enjoyed the opportunity to revisit those outstanding ideas from the AR Founders.

The Challenge will be available in three sizes - something for everyone! Try Mini or Midi or go for the Maxi --- earn Bonus points according to your choice!

One important requirement is common to all three levels - that is, to post about the  Weltanschauung and about the  Community Guidelines. To learn more about the Culture of ActiveRain, click here or on the image below.

Whether called ActiveRain CONTESTS or called ActiveRain CHALLENGES,
YOUR participation is what makes the experience rewarding for everyone.

See you in the 'Rain in January 2017!

I see the challenges as ways to improve my own blogging skills.

Hi Lynn -- thanks for the heads-up about the January challenges and/or contests. I've been almost MIA these last couple of weeks -- actually ready for partying to wind down and routines to be re-established.

Here's to 2017!
